This was a commission for ‘Rattling the Stage’ magazine in the US. The brief was to depict a group of immigrants arriving at an airport. The trick was to show non-US citizens without resorting to horrendous cliche’s (what do foreigners look like? Like everyone else). I treat every commission as an excuse to try things out, without straying from the style bought into by the client. In this case I wondered how much detail I could cram in without the picture exploding.
